Music fans can expect an outbreak of "Word Crimes" in Greenville later this year when parody singer "Weird Al" Yankovic comes to the Peace Center.
Yankovic brings his "Mandatory" World Tour to Greenville July 8 for a 7:30 p.m. show. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 30.
The three-time Grammy Award winner is touring to support his "Mandatory Fun" album, which became the first No. 1 comedy album on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in more than 50 years. It featured such hits as "Word Crimes," a parody of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," "Foil," a takeoff on Lorde's hit song "Royals" and "Tacky," which lampooned Pharrell Williams' "Happy."
"Mandatory Fun" is Yankovic's 14th studio album. His other hit parodies include "Yoda," inspired by the Kinks' "Lola"; and "Like a Surgeon," a takeoff on Madonna's "Like a Virgin."
Tickets are $35-$45. For more info, call 864-467-3000 or visit www.peacecenter.org.
