Sutton Foster, a celebrated Tony Award-winning actress, singer, and dancer, recently starred as Mrs. Lovett in the acclaimed Broadway revival of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" alongside Aaron Tveit. Previously, she dazzled audiences as Princess Winnifred in the New York City Center Encores! adaptation of "Once Upon a Mattress" and is set to reprise this role on Broadway this summer.
Foster's impressive Broadway career includes her starring role as Marian Paroo in the 2022 revival of "The Music Man," earning her a seventh Tony Award nomination and the 2022 Drama League Distinguished Performance Award. She also wowed London audiences as Reno Sweeney in "Anything Goes" at the Barbican Theatre, garnering an Olivier Award nomination. Her original performance in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival earned her a 2011 Tony Award.
In addition to her stage work, Foster has appeared in numerous other productions, including "Into the Woods" at the Hollywood Bowl, "Sweet Charity," and "Violet." She is well-known for originating roles in "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Shrek the Musical," and "Young Frankenstein," showcasing her versatility and talent across various genres.
Beyond the stage, Foster has made a significant impact on television, starring in TV Land's longest-running original series, "Younger," and in Amy Sherman-Palladino's "Bunheads," "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life," and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." As a solo artist, she has performed in concerts across the country and released multiple solo albums, including "Take Me to the World." Foster also holds an honorary doctorate from Ball State University, where she teaches.
